What are commercial springers?

Springers are classic stand alone play units that can be used to enhance any playground and theme.

The KOMPAN story began with a springer - a red hen on a blue spring - the iconic Crazy Hen that launched in 1970 and is still a firm favourite with children. Since its launch we have consistently designed innovative play equipment that has changed the world of play and today have hundreds of products for all ages and abilities.

Springers are instantly recognisable for children and is an alternative to the standard seesaw while still providing a fun play experience for all children. Our commercial range of springers come in various designs and can help enhance the theme of your play area. Springers are perfect as stand alone units or can be placed side by side for children to enjoy together.

Adding a springer to an existing playground can freshen up your play area and increase the play value of an existing playground.

Benefits of Playground Springers

Springers are more than just rocking fun. The rhythmic movements help stimulate language development in young children and build their understanding of cause and effect.

Physically, springers help develop key gross motor skills surrounding balance and weight management. Whilst most time on a springer is spent sitting, the balancing skills practiced can quickly translate and help with walking, running and sporting activities immediately and in the future.

Safe & Fun Commercial Springers

With their bright colours and familiar themes springers grab children's attention and are a popular choice for all types of playground sites. Due to their small footprint springers are a great addition to any playground and can be placed with other springers or close to other freestanding equipment to create a social play experience.

All our equipment complies with industry standards and certifications are available for all our springers.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Are springers safe?

Our springers are safe as unique anti-pinch fittings fix the springs for maximum safety. The springers are usually placed low to the ground and have low velocity. The taller part in the front of the springer prevents the child from leaping forward. A soft layer of TPE rubber on the seat keeps the children fixed to the springer.

2. Are springers durable - how is the spring secured?

All our springer animals and vehicles have industry-leading warranties and are made of high-quality spring steel, according to EN10270, which makes them highly durable. The spring can be secured in two different ways depending on the surfacing.

Please contact our Galway office to learn more about installation and how the springers are secured.

3. Is the tension on the spring adjustable?

The spring is not adjustable, but in some springers, a PUR has been installed to counterbalance and stabilise a weight shift, e.g., the Daisy Springer, the Crazy Daisy and the Water Lilies Springer. In general, the springers have just the right amount of resistance to allow children of all abilities to have a thrilling experience.

4. Who invented springer animals?

KOMPAN invented the springer in 1970. A hen on a bright blue spring started it all, and we have not stopped since. Today, our range of commercial springers includes over 30 different units!
